Life and Care in Mount Pleasant
About seven in ten Mount Pleasant residents work outside the town, so many spend part of every day on the bridges and highways. Long commutes leave less time for appointments, so video visits from home or work can help.
Mount Pleasant nearly doubled in size from about 47,600 residents in 2000 to more than 90,000 in 2020, making it the fourth-largest municipality in South Carolina. Fast growth brings new neighbors, heavier traffic and rising costs, and many people are building their support networks from scratch.
About 18 percent of Mount Pleasant residents are 65 or older.
Mount Pleasant's economy centers on professional services and local government.
How ADHD Evaluation and Treatment Works
Your first visit is a full evaluation by secure video. Your provider reviews your symptoms, your history back to childhood, how attention problems affect your work and home life, and other conditions that can look like ADHD, such as anxiety, depression and poor sleep.
If you have not completed a formal ADHD evaluation or testing before, our practice requires objective ADHD testing before ADHD treatment can begin. The testing is a separate computerized assessment of the three core symptoms of ADHD: attention, activity and impulsivity. It is completed online as part of your evaluation, usually before your virtual visit with your provider, on a third-party, web-based, FDA-cleared ADHD assessment platform. It gives your provider objective data from validated testing to aid the diagnosis, but on its own it is not enough to diagnose ADHD. ADHD testing is self-pay and not covered by insurance; our front desk will tell you the cost when you schedule. Your visits with your provider may be billed to your insurance according to your plan benefits.
Treatment is built with you and can include medication when clinically appropriate, counseling for organization and coping strategies, and regular follow-up.
Insurance and Scheduling
We accept Medicare, most major commercial plans, and all South Carolina Medicaid managed care plans except Select Health (First Choice). New patients are often able to be scheduled within a week of requesting an appointment.
