Online PTSD Treatment Across South Carolina
Trauma-informed care for adults by secure video from anywhere in the state, with in-person visits in West Ashley.
PTSD Care by Video, Statewide
Hope Behavioral Medicine treats posttraumatic stress disorder in adults by secure video in every South Carolina county, so the first visit can happen from a place where you already feel safe. Patients near Charleston can also see us in person at our West Ashley office.
PTSD is not limited to combat. It can follow an assault, a crash, a disaster, a medical emergency, childhood adversity or the sudden loss of someone close.
What Treatment Looks Like
Care starts with a trauma-informed evaluation of your symptoms, how they affect daily life and conditions that often come with PTSD, such as depression and anxiety. Our licensed therapists provide trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, and your provider can coordinate a referral for EMDR when it fits.
When medication is part of the plan, it is decided jointly with you and can ease core symptoms and trauma-related nightmares. With your permission, we coordinate with your VA providers if you also receive care there.
How Common PTSD Is
The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) estimates that 3.6 percent of U.S. adults had PTSD in the past year and that about 6.8 percent will have it at some point in their lives. NIMH says symptoms usually begin within 3 months of the event but sometimes emerge later.
If You Are in Crisis
Call or text 988 at any hour to reach the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Veterans and service members can dial 988 and press 1 for the Veterans Crisis Line, or text 838255. If anyone is in immediate danger, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room; Hope Behavioral Medicine is not an emergency service.
