Online OCD Treatment Across South Carolina
Evaluation and medication management for obsessive-compulsive disorder by secure video, statewide, or in person in West Ashley.
OCD Care by Video, Statewide
Hope Behavioral Medicine evaluates and treats obsessive-compulsive disorder in adults by secure video anywhere in South Carolina, and patients near Charleston can also come to our West Ashley office.
OCD is not about being neat. It is a distressing condition in which intrusive, unwanted thoughts drive repetitive behaviors or mental acts, and people with OCD generally spend more than an hour a day on them.
Therapy and Medication
Exposure and response prevention (ERP), a specific type of cognitive behavioral therapy, helps people face triggers while resisting the compulsion. Our psychiatric nurse practitioners and therapists can use CBT with exposure elements, and when dedicated ERP is the better fit, we refer you to an ERP specialist and keep your plan connected.
Medication when indicated is decided jointly with you. OCD often needs a longer trial than depression or anxiety, frequently 8 to 12 weeks, before response can be judged, so please do not stop a medication on your own.
How Common OCD Is
The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) estimates that 1.2 percent of U.S. adults had OCD in the past year and about 2.3 percent will have it at some point in their lives.
